Its comparative size and considerable footprint claim floor space, but the GHD is the ultimate anvil for hammering out a powerful posterior chain and mid-section.
Glute-hamstring raises and Nordic curls are unique in that they engage the hamstrings using hip extension and knee flexion at the same time. Like a leg curl combined with a hyperextension. It's an advanced exercise that offers unparalleled range of motion, and a huge carryover to powerlifting, sprinting and hypertrophy training. As a bodyweight exercise, it's also easily scalable by altering the range of motion or sliding up/down the pad. No wonder they're a favourite in strength and conditioning programs everywhere!
The GHD apparatus is sneakily versatile. While obviously designed with glute-hamstring raises in mind, you can also perform hyperextensions, sit ups and dragon flags among other core-shredding exercises.
The distance and height of the foot plate can be adjusted using a pin-lock mechanism - similar to most pin loaded machines - in order to position yourself best for your preferred exercise and difficulty.
Half-moon pads allow an easy and comortable transition between different positions, and strike that tricky balance between durability and comfort.
Wheels are included at the base for easy movement.
Band holes are drilled at the bottom and band pegs included, to help load what is already one of the most effective hamstring and core-developing exercises possible.

- Can I buy the pads or pins separately
- Yes, we stock these as spare parts
- The pads are dense, is there anything we can do to soften them
- The first generation we stocked used softer pads but these wore out too quickly. Our current generation are much more durable, and denser
- We don’t have softer pads but after use your legs will adjust and become used to the pressure. In the meantime, padding such as towels or yoga mats can be used. It may be worth starting with hyperextensions and progressing to full glute-ham raises if you’re having trouble with the starting position
