The Iron Edge Founder Story

It started in a garage with Rick Ravensdale. Training clients, he was always looking for ways to push their performance further.

Then he saw footage of kettlebells being used in Russia - heavy, unforgiving tools built for serious work. Nothing like that existed in Australia - so he built his own.

Word spread fast. Demand grew. People noticed. People like Russian-Australia professional world champion boxer Kostya Tszyu.

From humble beginnings, and his mate’s shed, Rick grew the business to today’s 1,730 square metre warehouse in Melbourne.

With legends Shane Yost and the late Steve Cotter helping to spread the word, demand grew. What began as a garage experiment introduced an entire training category to Australia.

The operation outgrew the garage. The product range evolved and expanded. But the foundation remained: solve real problems for real lifters - build things properly.

What began as an experiment introduced an entire training category to Australia. 24 years later, the product range has expanded but the standard remains the same.

Our equipment sits in elite sport facilities, premium education settings, serious commercial gyms, government organisations and allied health environments. They choose us for the same reason people knocked on Rick's garage door - they need equipment that works, built by people who understand training.

Built different for 24 years. And counting.
