Rocktape

Rocktape is a kinesiology tape that is engineered to mimic the behaviour of human skin: it stretches up to 180% of its original length and is highly elastic so has excellent 'snap back'. The fact that it acts like skin is the key to its ability to not only provide extra support for soft tissue and joints, aid in sports performance, speed recovery, but also to improve healing in the case of injury.

If Rocktape applied so that there is a lot of stretch on the skin but little on the tape, the result is wrinkling of the skin that actually decompresses the tissue just beneath the skin.
This decompression has several benefits that are thought to assist with recovery and healing:

• Allows greater movement of fluid to and from the site, so that swelling is decreased faster and the vascular system is better able to do its job transporting oxygen and nutrients vital for healing.
• Allows layers of tissue to slide over one another more easily, restoring range of motion in joints and muscles.
• Takes the pressure off the nerve endings between skin and muscle that are responsible for much of the pain generated by movement or muscle contraction at the injured site.  This not only reduces pain but increases proprioception.

Alternatively, applying Rocktape with more stretch will provide extra support for tissue that has been torn, weakened or lengthened excessively. Under these conditions, Rocktape provides the elastic recoil necessary for functional stability, which the injured tissue can no longer provide on its own.  Used in this manner, it can also increase sports performance.

Rocktape is made of organic cotton, is latex free and can be worn in the water, in fact once on it can last up to 7 days.
