Physio meets performance

Combining Allied Health and S&C training into one business model – with Jaydn Pearson and Connor Kondrat from REAZN.
Jaydn Pearson and Connor Kondrat built REAZN for athletes and people who want a reason behind their training. A reason for every exercise and every session – no filler. They saw an opportunity to combine allied health and S&C into one approach, a business model that removes the disconnect between physio and gym coach.
Jaydn and Connor, what made you decide to put strength & conditioning and physiotherapy under the same roof?
“The Central Coast is home to an incredible pool of sporting talent, but access to integrated high-performance support is limited. We kept seeing the same gap: athletes get injured, they see a physio, they get "cleared" and they go back into training with a coach who has no idea what the physio actually found - or a physio who has no visibility into what their training actually demands. That handover is where people fall through the cracks. Re-injuries happen and athletic careers stall.”
“We set out to build something in between a gym and a clinic – a facility where the physio and coach are looking at the same data, in the same building on the same day. Reazn brings sports physiotherapy and strength & conditioning together under one roof, giving local athletes the level of care and performance support typically found in elite sporting environments. Rehab and performance were never actually separate; they only got treated that way because of how the industry is structured.”

And how does that integration come to life for members?
“Our membership tiers are built as pathways rather than separate products. Someone can move from a rehab focus to a performance focus as they progress, and the handover is internal – a conversation between coach and physio, not a discharge letter.”
How did working with us at Iron Edge help bring this vision to life?
“We wanted to fit out the gym with equipment we already trusted, so choosing Iron Edge was an easy call. We'd used Iron Edge gear before and knew the quality was there. What made the decision even easier was how seamless they made the whole process, from organising the fit-out through to delivery and installation.”
“Some of our favourite pieces are the smith machine, the wall-mounted cable stacks, and the bench pull. They’re in constant use by both our team and members.”

How does having physio and S&C in the same building seriously change the outcome for a client?
“The integrated model consistently changes outcomes for people coming back from injury. Clients love how easily our coaches and physios can talk to each other. They love that we don't just talk about the injury, but about the athlete as a whole person. That conversation is the one that genuinely gets someone back to performing.”
How does your team use your performance testing equipment?
“The Iron Edge Force Rack has been a game changer for us. Having a dedicated testing area means we can test properly even when the gym floor is busy, and it means our physio can run testing during a consultation without needing to pull someone off a squat rack like we used to have to do. It's given both sides of the business room to operate without stepping on each other.”

Do clients expect physio and S&C training to be separate? How do you shift that mindset when they arrive?
“Almost universally, yes. People walk in expecting to pick a lane. They think "I'm here for rehab" or "I'm here for performance," as if those are two different customers to us. It’s understandable because that's the industry default they've been trained on - physio fixes you, then a separate gym makes you fit.”
“The shift happens fast once they come through our doors, because we don't ask them to choose. Someone coming off an injury sees their rehab exercises and strength program are built by people talking to each other about the same test results. We also run semi-private coaching time slots where rehab and performance members train alongside each other, and we've found that connection makes a real difference to the mental side of rehab. No one feels sidelined or separate from the main gym.”

If someone was looking to open a similar integrated facility, what advice would you give them?
“Don't bolt a physio onto a gym, or a gym onto a clinic. Build the testing and data layer first, so everyone works off the same source of truth from day one.”
“Expect the sell to be different. Members don't walk in already believing in the integrated model. You have to demonstrate it, usually through data and outcomes.”
“Hire for collaboration, not just competence. A brilliant physio or coach who won't communicate across disciplines will quietly recreate the exact divide you're trying to eliminate.”
“Work with a supplier that helps you get the equipment and fit-out right, first time. We went back and forth for months with several different suppliers rather than deciding overnight. Pick equipment that suits your floorspace and budget, not just what you want.”
