The Log has long been used by strongmen and has had competitive strongman events dedicated to it since the early 80's.  If the strongest men in the world use it, you know there's a fair chance it's going to be good for strength training.

The Log that Iron Edge has made is a state-of-the-art steel beast (no need to worry about wood fluctuating in weight with changes in humidity, and no splinters).  In fact, Iron Edge's Log is made from over 40 kilos of steel, and if that's not enough for you, it has Olympic diameter pins on either end to add extra weight.

You can add up to 200 additional kilos to the log on the 50mm loading pins, that gets you to a total of around 240 kilos.  Zydrunas Savickas holds the current world record for the Log Lift World Championships (clean and press) with 212.5kg.  So even the current World Record Holder couldn't get the Iron Edge Log overhead when fully loaded - no one else need worry about not being able to make it heavy enough.

Aside from the obvious difference in diameter between a barbell and The Log (the latter being 8 inches), the neutral handle position sets The Log apart and makes cleaning, pressing, push pressing, jerking it or snatching it unique.  The neutral handle position also takes the stress off the rotator cuff in so the log is great for those who may have overdone the bench pressing in the past or to mix in with barbell lifts.  There are two sets of handles on The Log, 40cm apart and 60cm apart, so you can adjust your grip for comfort or variety.

In a nutshell: The Log is a serious piece of steel for those who want to be seriously strong.
