Power Ropes (better known as Battling Ropes due to the legendary John Brookfield's rope training systems) will:

  • Develop grip endurance
  • Increase aerobic and anaerobic capacity
  • Improve power production abilities including the ability to sustain power and velocity output for longer periods of time
  • Work the entire body in a unified manner
  • Generally smash you.

This makes Power Ropes ideal for general conditioning and supplementary training for a wide variety of athletes, as well as a great tool for the average person who just wants to improve their general fitness or lose a bit of weight.

Different Ropes Available

There are a few different types of 15 metre Power Ropes available, so you have a few options and can choose a rope that's going to best suit your needs.

The standard 15m sisal Power Rope has a 1.5 inch diameter and weighs 10kg.  This standard rope is great rope for general use and definitely a good option for beginners as it's the lightest and easiest to hold of the ropes available.

For anyone who is after a bit more of a challenge, a sisal Power Rope 2 inches in diameter is available.  This rope will obviously tax the grip much more due to its greater width.  The 2 inch rope also weighs more than double what the 1.5 inch rope does (25kg total) so will provide a higher intensity workout all round and can be used to get more of a strength training emphasis out of your rope training.

There is also a nylon encased 1.5 inch diameter Power Rope available that solves the issue of shedding and provides an intermediate weight (14kg).  This rope is also a bit more durable as the nylon case protects the rope from moisture and wear.

How to Train with your Power Ropes?

One of the great benefits of Power Ropes are that they're very simple to use so are suitable for all levels of fitness and experience.  Having said that, they're also highly versatile and can be used in an infinite number of ways only limited by your imagination.

If you are interested in just how versatile the ropes are and how to train for specific outcomes you really can't go past John Brookfield's Battling Rope System.  John is without doubt the man when it comes to rope training and the Battling Ropes System will not only take you through dozens of different exercises you can do with your Power Ropes, but also how to implement the training system for different outcomes and intensities.
